5 months old...

I simply cannot believe how fast the time is going. Most days (and occasionally a night or two) feel like an eternity until bedtime, but when I look back im shocked at how quickly time flys by and how fast he changes.

At 5 months..

* Hes finding his voice. LOVES to make as much noise as possible, and makes it his mission to get the attention of the entire room everywhere we go.

* He has learned how to laugh. His little giggle melt my heart.

* Can say Yum ( and says it after every bite which cracks me up!)

*Hes ok with other people holding him, but will scan the room until he finds me ( im usually not far away) and then flash that huge smile once his eyes lock with mine. Love that!

* Sleeping has its ups and downs, but he goes to bed every night at 7:30, which gives mommy a good amount of "me time" so I cant complain to much. On average he usually doesnt wake up until between 5 and 7. We just started a new routine with giving him a bottle before, and then just rocking to sleep. So far so good.

*Hes still taking 2 or 3 naps a day, for those as long as I catch onto his cues before he gets to tired, I can lay him down and he will go to sleep on his own.

* Blankie still has to go with us at all times. He kneads it between his hands to go to sleep, and without it NO sleep is happening.

*He can sit up completely unsupported, but most of the time is usually to lazy. Hed rather be standing or laying down. He is content flat on his back, which means he has no desire to roll from back to belly, no matter how much I try.

* He loves food. If there was a word that meant more than love..id use that. He will eat anything and everything, except for chicken ( which makes me laugh since everyone knows that my most favorite food, im sure in time though he will come around). All the normal baby foods he eats, but some he cant have because they hurt his little belly. Just recently we started with meats, so far turkey and beef got a YUM out of him, so he must like them.

* His hands and feet are better than any other toy ive spent money on at the moment. He stares, pulls, holds on to, and slobbers all over them.

*Loves his jumperoo. He will get himself going so fast that he cant keep up, so he will put his legs up until it finally stops on its own.

* I would say hes maybe a month or maybe two away from crawling, maybe even less. He can get up on his arms, and get up on his legs, he now just has to figure out how to do both at the same time and then he will be off. For now he just scoots himself around to whatever he wants on the floor.

* Hes SUCH a happy baby. His little smile lights up the room. He does everything he can to try to get a smile out of me. I get told all the time how hes the happiest baby they have ever seen. That makes me feel good, and like I must be doing something right :)

Youve Got Mail

I got a very anticipated ring of my door bell this morning.

This is what the FexEx guy left for us....

I mans new "Big Boy" Car Seat. I did an insane amount of research before I finally settled on this seat. It is a convertible meaning it can be used from newborn and transition all the way up to a booster. I paid a pretty hefty amount for it, but it was worth it considering this is the only seat we will ever have to buy (not including the one we have to buy for The Daddys new truck once hes gets home) I havent decided when I will switch him yet, right now im still loving the convenience of the infant carrier. I found it on a sale and got an AMAZING deal, almost 100 dollars off, so I couldnt pass it up!!!!! Once I make the switch he will of course still be rear facing until 1 then he will get to flip around and see the world. haha Once he reaches the 40 lb mark the harness comes off and he can use a regular seat belt with the seat.

Things around here are going along fairly smoothly. Recently we made the transition to having "solids" for breakfast as well as for dinner. He loves everything you give him, but sadly so many things hurt his belly ( mainly fruits) so for right now he gets only peaches or pears in the morning, I plan on trying to slowly work in other fruits as we go along since I already know he likes them we just have to get his stomach to cooperate. Ive never seen a baby so interested in food as he is, in fact he said his very first word the other morning while having breakfast. Yum-Yum! Thats my silly baby for you.

his favorite toy has become his feet

He will look and play with them for the longest time. Who knew toes could be so interesting. haha With this discovery, I think rolling from back to belly is in our near future. :)

Hes definitely a mover, although im not really sure how exactly he does it. A wiggle here, arms and legs there, and the next thing you know hes on the other side of the room from where I put him down.

This is how I found him when I went in to get him out of bed this morning

Feet out of his jammies, and he had managed to turn himself completely sideways from how I laid him down originally. Atleast he was all smiles.

6 days until hes 5 months old. Man, where does time go?
